Abstract:

Identifying and analyzing the effects of insurance on agricultural crops is one of the measures that guide insurance policymakers in advancing the goals of the insurance fund as much as possible. Therefore, the present research was conducted to evaluate and identify the social and economic effects of the insurance of agricultural crops in Qasr-e Shirin County. The statistical population of this research includes 1500 wheat farmers of Qasr-e Shirin County located in Kermanshah province. Using Cochran's formula, the sample size was estimated to be 120 people, and the samples were selected using the multi-stage cluster sampling method and were interviewed through a questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed by content validity and using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (≥ 0.7). Finally, data analysis was done with the SPSS software. According to the results of the ranking, the greatest social effects of agricultural insurance are "increasing the interaction of farmers with government institutions", "maintaining the dignity of farmers" and "familiarizing farmers with new calculations" and the greatest economic effects of agricultural insurance are "reducing losses", "increasing purchasing power" and "increasing farmers' income". Also, based on the results of the factor analysis, the effects of agricultural insurance have been categorized into three factors: "creating economic security", "social transformation" and "moral risks", and these factors could explain 40.68% of the total variance. Based on the results, including the recommended solutions of this research, the cooperation of relevant organizations with farmers who have suffered losses in insurance, improvement of educational measures to increase awareness among farmers, employment of trained insurance agents, and more accurate techniques and methods for determining damages, greater accuracy in estimating fines commensurate with inflation and the actual price of the product or production factor are necessary
