Abstract:
Color revolutions have led to important changes in the countries that experienced them, which have been followed by civilian means and social mobilization to change closed regimes. The United States has taken advantage of these revolutions to spread democracy and western values. America's democratization policies have undergone significant changes after the Cold War. The country has pursued funding, training and support for independent media. This policy has faced negative reactions from Russia, which is worried about weakening its influence and increasing the influence of the West. Russia has tried to prevent these revolutions with diplomatic, economic and military means. This article examines Russia's confrontation and the United States' democratization plans in the Middle East and the Near Abroad. The main hypothesis of the authors is that: color revolutions in these regions were formed as a tool to influence the ruling political regimes, with American policies, and affected the relations between the two countries. The purpose of this article is to analyze Russia's policies and the effect of color revolutions on that country's relations with America. In this article, the concept and theoretical foundations of color revolutions, the background of its formation, its various examples, the policies of the United States under the title of democratization, Russia's reaction and the effect of these revolutions on the relations between the two countries are examined. The effect of the color revolutions on the relations between Russia and the United States shows some aspects of the current tensions in the international system.
