America's Exploitation of Color Revolutions in Relations with Russia

Color revolutions have led to important changes in the countries that experienced them, which have been followed by civilian means and social mobilization to change closed regimes. The United States has taken advantage of these revolutions to spread democracy and western values. America's democratization policies have undergone significant changes after the Cold War. The country has pursued funding, training and support for independent media. This policy has faced negative reactions from Russia, which is worried about weakening its influence and increasing the influence of the West. Russia has tried to prevent these revolutions with diplomatic, economic and military means. This article examines Russia's confrontation and the United States' democratization plans in the Middle East and the Near Abroad.
