Abstract:
Generally, the critical load due to buckling in cylindrical shells is less than the corresponding values of the theory. The reason for the difference between theoretical and empirical results is that many researchers find that there are some initial deficiencies. Primary deficiencies mean a small deviation from the initial assumed structure of the structure, which is the main reason for the difference between theoretical and empirical results. In this study, the effects of residual stress caused by deformation, in the buckling of cylindrical shells under external pressure have been investigated. For this purpose, a damaged rectangular sheet with indent was tested and the residual stresses generated in the piece were calculated for defect, then the defective shell was modeled and buckling analysis using ABAQUS software.
