Abstract:
Vascular tone refers to the degree of constriction experienced by a blood vessel relative to its maximally dilated state. Vascular tone (degree of constriction) determines the diameter of vessel and blood flow to the argans and vascular smooth muscle is responsible for the control of vascular tone, blood pressure and the distribution of blood flow thought the body, basal vascular tone is different among organs the degree of vascular constriction is determined by competing vasoconstrictor and vasodilator factors acting on the blood vessels. These factors have extrinsic and intrinsic origins. Extrinsic factors include neural and humoral factors and intrinsic factors include substances produced by tissue metabolism, activity of the smooth muscle of the vessel wall and factors released from the vascular endothelium vascular tone, at any given instant, is determined by the balance of competing vasoconstrictors and vasodilators.
