The Political Economy of Low Growth in Iran

This article studies economic problems of Iran their reasons and particularly the phenomenon of low growth with the emphasis on the role of state and its relationships with social classes. Also it tries to present some solutions for these problems and for confronting challenges in the future. Among other issues related to Iranian economy, the authors address low and fluctuating rate of economic growth, unequal distribution of revenues, technological backwardness, inflation and unemployment as well as some structural problems including the dependency of Iranian economy on natural resources and its asymmetrical interaction with the world, and finally the continuation of precapitalist productive relations along with capitalism and state economy.
