The Effectiveness of Problem- Solving Training on Reduction of Runaway Tendency in at Risk Adolescent Girls

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of problem-solving training in reducing runaway tendency, stress level, increasing self-esteem & development of coping strategies in at risk girls.A sample of 760 high school students were selected from Tehran 2nd, 4th, 14th, 15-th, 16th and 19th educational districts. Based on the results of initial inventory for tendency to runaway, 54 students were chosen according to cut-off points and randomly assigned into control and experimental groups.Experimental group received 10 training sessions, and was compared with controls. Results showed that problem-solving training increased self-esteem in girls at risk of runaway and decreased their level of stress. However, reduction in runaway tendency did not reach to significant level.
