of Austenitization Temperature and Austempering Time on Mechanical Properties of Austempered Steel of SCM420H

SCM420H is a low alloy low carbon steel that generally applied in gear and shaft of autumotive. General process for this steel is quench temper that tempered martensite is produce. This steel were studied in order to decrease fracture.Therefore, after determination of the temprature and time of austenitization the effect of austempering time on structure and mechanical properties in several temprature of austenitization were investigated .Result shows that low austenitization temprature has the better strength effect on sample. Also , with increasing of austempering temprature and bainite volume it was produced smaller and scatter voids on fracture surface that lead to ductile fracture.
