Semantic of Quran: Case study of Al Jumu ah Surah

Abstract:
Semantic net work in Quran has a special structure. Although different schools have presented various critical theories, there is no comprehensive and practical model available. The purpose of the present study is to compare the existing models and provide a more practical and structural one which is based on the principles of semantics. Here, the researcher has taken two approaches to study Quran: word and meaning. Semantic structure including concepts in the meaning network of Quran as well as their complexities and interrelationships were analyzed in a theoretical model. Al Jumu’ah Surah was taken as a sample and its verse were analyzed; then I was compared with other Surahs based on such model. In data analysis, a structural approach was employed to examine the conceptual and semantic relations among word. First, the relations of verses in Al Juma’ah Surah were analyzed and compared with pre and post verses. Then, the relationships among the verses in this Surah were analyzed which is revealed that Quranic concepts are in a chain relationship with each other. To understand these concepts, it is required to recognize other concepts in a semantic network.
