Orientalists and the Verses of Jihād in the Quran
Author(s):
Abstract:
A small group among the orientalists have undertaken to analyze the Islamic history and culture based on conscience and logic; however, most of them have approached this task with an evangelical or colonial motivations. Islamic jihād (holy war) is one of the issues wrongly and begrudgingly analyzed by them, who have attempted to evaluate the expansion of Islam in the shade of warfare and swords. This writing is a detailed response to the orientalist's accusations, explaining that jihād has been more of defensive nature in Islam, even in some instances when it had taken an apparently primitive form.
