Qualitative classification of Chardoly plain (Hamadan and Kurdistan) water resources for various applications using hydrogeochemical data

Message:
Abstract:
The Chahardoly plain is located in the northwest of Iran, northwest of Hamadan province. In the area, groundwater supplies main water demand for different applications, including drinking, agriculture and industry. The aim of study is to investigate groundwater hydrogeochemistry, to determine probable hydrogeochemical anomalies and their sources for evaluation of groundwater condition in point of various applications, carried out with geochemical analysis results. The results indicate high contents (1500 mg/l) of CO2 in the wells of area. According to qualitative classification of waters, the most water resourses of the region are undrinkable (for drinking usage); on the basis of agricultural usage, water resources are of saline water type and are usable for farming activity. Moreover, the water resources in the Chahardoly plain have various limitations for industrial applications such as corrosive and sediment lying effects. The results indicate that most low quality water resources are located in the north and northwest of the study area.
