Phronesis and research in education

Abstract:
The importance of Aristotle for education is not a new issue. Also Aristotle has effected on ethical issues in education. This article, at first, will examine different interpretations of the term Phronesis, in Aristotle’ practical ethic and then will draw on some implications for researching in education. This article concludes that interpretation of Phronesis with regard to rationality, situational perception and moral character could be a basis for different researches in education. Interpretation of Phronesis dealing with rationality could be a basis for researches about examining thinking processes, practical arguments and also competencies of teachers. Interpretation of this term with regard to situational perception could be a basis for researches about identifying the elements in unique classroom situations and interpretation of Phronesis with regard to moral character could be a basis for researches about teachers’ characteristics.
