Industrial Pt-Sn/γ-Al2O3 Catalyst for Propane Dehydrogenation

Industrial Pt-Sn/γ-Al2 O3 catalyst is very active and selective in the dehydrogenation of propane. The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of addition of small amount of water on the performance of industrial Pt-Sn/γ-Al2O3. Propane dehydrogenation was carried out at 575, 600 and 620 and it was formed that the optimum amount of water for these temperatures were 83.5, 125.4, 139.3 ppm, respectively. The addition of water in these optimum amounts resulted in an increase in propane conversion and propylene yield and reduction in coke formation. In the presence of water, however, the selectivity for propylene decreased and COx were produced
