Mineralogy and petrogeneses of Eocene volcanics in Kamal Abad (west of Naein, Isfahan Province)

Eocene volcanics in Kamal Abad (West of Naein, Isfahan Province) are olivine basalt, basalt and andesitic basalt in composition, covered by pyroclastic rocks. Mineralogic studies show that clinopyroxene and plagioclase are two main minerals in these volcanics. Mineralogic composition of these volcanic rocks and xenoliths are similar. Field and microscopic evidences show that an alternation of acidic and basic magmatism has occurred in the study area. Spider diagrams show that the parent magma has formed frompartial melting of mantle. On the basis of the geochemical studies and tectonic setting patterns, these rocks are volcanic arc basalts. These basalts belong to the calc-alkaline magmatic series.
