The frequency of ABO blood groups in patients with Denture Stomatitis Hamadan, 2006

Recent studies have shown a relation between some ABO blood groups and increased susceptibility to fungal infections. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of blood groups in patients with denture sore mouth. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, diagnosis of Denture sore mouth in patients with complete dentures, was made by direct clinical examination and confirmed by culture of microorganism. Type of blood groups, were determined by direct agglutination method, using monoclonal antibodies against A and B antigens. Data's were studied with SPSS software version. Among 100 (53 male, 47 female)53 patients that studied, so had a O blood group, 17 had A, 18 had B, and 12 had AB blood group The frequency of the O blood group had a higher percentage in patients with Denture sore mouth in comparison with the other blood groups.
