Evaluation of Antiseptic Irsha mouth rinse effect in minor aphthous lesions

RAS is one of the most common oral lesions and its treatment is based on prevention of lesions extension and supportive care because of unknown etiology. Microbial agents are one of the main factors in its extension and because of antimicrobial effects of Irsha in invitro studies, this study has designed to evaluate its efficacy on RAS in patients referred to oral medicine Department of Shahid Beheshti Dental Faculty.Method and Materials: This study is a double blind sequential clinical trial in patients referred to oral medicine department with aphtous lesions. Patients dividied in two cases and control groups randomizely. In case group Irsha and in control placebo (normal saline) was prescribed 3 times daily for 30 seconds until remission of lessions. Patients examined until remission of lesions and 3 months later after finishing the treatment period for recurrence. Study variables were sore, pain and clinical remission. We studied 300 patients with mean age of 28.3 ± 5.99 and 18 41 range (67% womn and 33% men). There wasn’t any significant difference between age, sex, number of lesion, mean of remission time and interval period of previous attacks in two group. Mean time of recovery was 3.95 ± 0.61 in case and 5.79 ± 0.99 in control groups with significany (P<0.0001). %87.3 of case group and %5.3 of control had significant difference deminision of sore and pain (P<0.0001). recurrency of lesions hadn’t any difference between 2 groups. Mouthwash Irsha is effectice in deminision of sore, pain and remision time of RAS but it doesn’t have significant efficacy in recurrency.
