Relationship betweeh Health Locus of Control, Memory, and Physician - Patient relationship With Satisfaction of Treatment in Type II Diabetic Patients

One of the factors in evaluating health care quality is assessing treatment satisfaction of patient with type Π diabetes. This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between health locus of control, memory and physician-patient relationship with satisfaction of treatment. In this correlation study 115 patients with type Π diabetes, who referred to Tabriz Sina hospital in June-August 2010, were included. The samples filled the following five questionnaires: demographic questions, patient-doctor relationship questionnaire (PDRQ-19), patient satisfaction questionnaire (PSQ-18), prospective and retrospective memory questionnaire (PRMQ), and multidimensional health locus of control (MHLC). The data were analyzed through Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis methods. The results indicated that there was a positive significant relation between external health locus of control and desired physician- patient relationship with satisfaction of treatment in patients with type Π diabetes. However, the findings indicated no significant association between memory with satisfaction of treatment. In addition, physician-patient relationship had a significant power for prediction of treatment satisfaction. These results support the idea that patients with type Π diabetes who had external health locus of control and desired relationship with their physicians were more satisfied with the treatment. Finally, desired physician- patient relationship potentially leads to better satisfaction of the treatment.
