Recognition and Prioritization of Entrepreneurial Opportunities: (Case Study: Raja Passenger Railway Company)

Entrepreneurship is a process which is interwoven with exploration, assessment and exploitation of opportunities whereby new products and services are defined and launched. Recognition of opportunity plays a fundamental role in this respect. Opportunities may exist independently of entrepreneurial activities or may be created by entrepreneurs. For this reason, the present article has focused on the opportunity recognition as the main theme rather than a business creation.We have conducted an investigation into the Raja Passenger Railway Company to identify the entrepreneurial opportunities. For this purpose, a questionnaire based on Ulwik,s Opportunity Algorithm(with Cranbach Alpha 0.914) at two assessment factors of "satisfaction" and " importance" were designed and distributed among the passengers of the national railway transport network The findings in the order of priority indicate the entrepreneurial opportunities in the compartment for the invalid (the disabled), information dissemination at the railway station, door-to-door transport services, parking cards-cum tickets, creation of compartments and play areas, provision of electronic and internet services.
