ERP Success Factors in Iran's Government Organizations

Abstract:
In recent years, ERP systems are in high demand among government organizations in Iran. Therefore, many large government organizations try to run ERP implementation projects. A number of projects failed because they faced with some challenges and difficulties in the way that the ERP are implemented. The failure depends on the government organization conditions such as organizational readiness for ERP, infrastructures, management and also depends on the general situation of the country such as political constraints and sanctions. In this paper we try to identify critical success factors (CSFs) for ERP systems in the government organizations of Iran with emphasis on the Iran's Commerce Ministry. To end this, we first review the ERP systems literature. Moreover, the domestic projects related to implementing ERP in Iranian company are evaluated. Then, a questionnaire is designed to gather information. The questionnaires are completed by information system experts. Finally, we analysis the collected information and identify the most important CSFs to implement successful ERP system in large governmental organizations.
