New Public Diplomacy and Comprehensive Defense

Abstract:
This Article tries to examine the relationship between "new public diplomacy" and "comprehensive defense". New communicative media, especially "web2", which provided necessary context for virtual networks and social movements are the most important technologies that developed the nature of many concepts and functions such as "diplomacy" and "defense". These media have characteristics that, if exploited properly, comprehensive defense in the new circumstances will be possible. In the new public diplomacy, a wide range of people can play a role in defending national and security interests of their country, by joining social networks.If in an official diplomacy the relationship is between official representatives of the governments, and in a traditional public diplomacy a government addresses groups, organizations and individuals of a specific community, in new public diplomacy, a broad network of people in two communities or at the international level address each other or others.The article explains the need for the mentioned media and the way of using them in a comprehensive defense in light of new public diplomacy.
