Manuchehri and his Naturalism

Author(s):
Abstract:
Manuchehri is a poet with a tender nature, a sweet tongue, an abundant flair, a strong memory and a God-given aptitude. In simile and description especially in describing natural sights, he is a painter who pictures natural sights before our eyes and breathes life into lifeless and dull words, thus creating expressions that seem to have the gist of the beauty and perfection of all times. Hence, some of his similes are still unparalleled in Persian literature.Stanzaic poems can be the result of his insightful nature. Although his stanzas enjoy similar concepts, imitators of this style have not been able to fly this high. A lot of information about Arabic literature especially Arab poets and their works can be seen in Manuchehri’s poems. He is the first poet who has included literary recitations in his poems. He not only welcomed famous Arabic qasidas but has quoted some of their lines. With a quick look at Manuchehri’s naturalism and his language, this article tries to study how he was influenced by Arab poets by presenting some examples. At the end, one of Manuchehri’s qasidas will be compared with Labid ibn Rabi`a’s mo`allaqa (famous qasida).
