Balance Theory in Persian literature: Evolution and History
Author(s):
Abstract:
The creation of balance between microcosm and macrocosm is one of the common themes of myth، religion، philosophy and mysticism in Persian literature، before and after، Islam in Iran. According to this balance، the universe and man have symmetry and equal essence and the creator elements of their creation are from one origin، and like two mirrors reflect each other. At the same time، these two worlds—the human and the universal—are similar to God; therefore through their understanding one can achieve heavenly insight. The reflection of this view has such richness and prevalence in Persian poetry that the examination of its evolution is not without merit. This article summarizes the evolution and transformations of this view with reference to examples from various Persian texts. Length limitation of this article prevents cultural، religious، or mystic analyses; but، overall، it does conclude that humanity’s position is this universe is of the highest.
