Correlation of HbA1c with monthly Mortality and Morbidity of ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Message:
Abstract:
Background and
Purpose
HbÂ1c is a measurement tool to indicate average blood glucose within past 2-3 months and affects minimally by stress hyperglycemia during STËMÏ. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between HbÂ1c and one month mortality and morbidity in STËMÏ patients and in diabetic and non-diabetic, male and female and hypertensive subgroups.
Materials And Methods
470 patients with STËMÏ divided into two groups; group  with HbÂ1c<6.2 and group B with HbÂ1c≥6.2. Âfterwards one month mortality and morbidity rate of STËMÏ in these patient and subgroups was assessed.
Results
with increase of HbÂ1c level from 6.2, one month mortality rate of STËMÏ didn’t increase significantly. But RBBB rate and ËF<50% rate increased significantly. Çonclusion: HbÂ1c level was not a potent predictor of mortality in STËMÏ patients, this result was obtained in subgroups too. HbÂ1c level was potentially risk factor of RBBB and ËF<50% occurrence.
