Some contemporary Islamic intellectuals have raised questions about the principle of Khātamiyya (Finality of Prophethood) and its related topics, such as the comprehensiveness and perpetuality of religion and the revelation. This article, by adopting a descriptive-analytical method, sets out to examine and compare the views of contemporary intellectuals including traditionalists such as Motahari and Nasr, and modernists like Lahuri, Shariati, Soroush and Abu Zayd about the three notions of Finality of Prophethood, the comprehensiveness of Islam and revelation. According ot the findings of the research, the approach of contemporary intellectuals to the Finality of Prophethood can be split into two main categories of need-oriented and cause-oriented. In the former approach, one can mention Shahid Motahari and Hossein Nasr, and in the latter approach, the views of Lahuri, Shariati, Soroush and Abu Zayd could be discussed. In the recent approach, contemporary modernist intellectuals hold divergent views. Lahore and Shariati acknowledge the need of today's man to the last religion and scripture despite rational maturity and evolution; however, Soroush and Abu Zayd, in view of the theory of succession of religious experiences and collective wisdom, as well as the rationalism approach, contend that Finality of Prophethood lends credit to the absolute validity of reason and the possibility of criticizing revelation, in light of which the modern human finds relevation unneeded and unnecessary. A perquisite of this approach is secularism and the retreat of religion from reason.

In light of their transcendental approach to the world of dreams, Sadr-ol-Mote'allehin Shirazi and Allameh Tabatabai have considered dream world as one of the undeniable realms of existence, while adopting an interpretive and philosophical outlook in discussing its nature.  According to this approach, the world in which one enters during dream is called Barzakh or imaginal world, which is spiritual in nature. As human senses represent apertures to the visible world, the imagination faculty of man serve as a window to this world. However, the separation of the soul from body and the roaming of the soul in the imaginal world or reason proportionate to its value and potentials, are the most important features cited by Allameh in explaining the process of sleep. He raises it as a proof for the otherness of the soul and body and the abstract nature of the material and dream world. Allameh has discussed this issue in his interpretation of Quranic verses.

With the critique of the historical-comparative trends surrounding language, Saussure sets intralingual elements as his point of departure. In his view, the realized and dynamic nature of language does not reflect its true nature. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the static aspect of language or the synchronic approach to language. Saussure, under the influence of Kant's epistemology, separates the domains of language into langage, langue and parole, and restricts the concrete object, or in some way language principles, to the langue. Farabi has explored linguistic reflections in the tradition of Islamic philosophy in a close relation with Saussure. He begins his linguistic studies with a fresh and new reading of the associations between language and logic. By arguing that speech (notgh) and logic (mantegh) are derived from the same root, he traces back the origin of logic to language. In the idea of Farabi, speech is the fundamental and general aspect of language. He summarized three realms of language into rational soul (Nafs-e Nateghe), inner word and outer word, where the inner word is home to linguistic elements. Irrespective of this issue, in semiotics, the relationship between the signifier and the signified is arbitrary in a way that is comparable to that of speech and logic. The present paper, by delving into three domain of language proposed by Saussure, seeks to exhibit that this structuralist conception is not new. For centuries, in the tradition of Islamic philosophy, Farabi has elaborated on such reflections. Farabi's notion of dividing linguistic signs into two parts of speech and logic and the tripartite division of language offers a new conception of linguistics, which marks the beginning of a new trend of studies in Islamic linguistics

One of the subjects that link mathematics and philosophy is the "infinite dimension". William Craig, an American philosopher and theologian, has attempted to prove through mathematics the non-realization of infinite events in the world and thus proves the temporality of the universe. Describing this argument as a Kalam cosmological argument, he draws on Al-Ghazali's Huduth (temporality) argument. The purpose of this article is to examine one of the philosophical reasons set forth by Craig in proving the second premise of this argument in a bid to answer this question: “Is this philosophical-mathematical reasoning capable of proving the temporality of the universe?” The present study, with a descriptive-analytical approach, elaborates on the first reason proposed for the second preamble of Craig's argument, which deals with the actual infinity debates and set theory, and then embarks on evaluating the views of Islamic thinkers. The findings of the research suggest that temporality argument, due to the impossibility of the deteriorating order of events in the world, does not meet the contiguity conditions, and therefore fails to contradict its infinity. Moreover, since a number cannot be attributed to an infinite set, it is impossible to determine the members of an infinite set. That is, the assumption of an infinite dimension, even actual infinity, does not produce contradiction. For this reason, most Islamic philosophers have been reluctant to subscribe to the universe temporality argument.

One of the important rules that Mulla Sadra has stated in his philosophy, as his preceding philosophers did, is the "Al-Wahed Rule (the one does issue him only the one)". He proclaims that this rule is justifiable purely by reason, and discusses the content of this rule in a way comparable to that of his predecessors. However, given his views on the personal unity of existence, the “Basit al-Haghigha” rule, the substitution of causation and monotheism (Tawhid) with manifestation and evolution falls short of exemplifying this philosophy. Raising Basit al-Haghigha rule and rejecting causality in its common sense underline the personal unity of existence. Therefore, no being other than God will have a true existence, and all beings are nothing but shadows and manifestations of that true being. By rejecting duality in existence, the Al-Wahed rule loses its conventional instances, as Sodur (emanation) in this rule is secondary to duality and plurality.

Pragmatics is the study of meaning expressed by the author or speaker. It addresses the role of extra-linguistic factors and the situations and contexts influencing the speaker and audience, in a bid to analyze the relationship between intra-linguistic meaning and extra-linguistic factors. The goal of the pragmatics is to determine the meaning or purpose of the speaker or author. Pragmatics presumes that the use of language by humans represents a form of social behavior and social action and explores it from this perspective. The goal of this article is to partially revive the scientific heritage of logic in Islamic period through a comparative research. It posits that Muslim scholars, instead of considering pragmatic domains and instruments independently, have addressed it in their logical views. In this manner, a novel reading of subjects debated by Muslim thinkers can be achieved based on pragmatics. The observations of Muslim scholars about this subject could be discussed in five domains: pragmatic analysis of declarative sentences, generally accepted premises, judicial implication, liar paradox, and speech acts. Muslim scholars have approached pragmatic solutions in each of these domains. Further emphasis and reflection of Islamic thinkers on this approach could have developed pragmatics into an independent and growing debate. Today, the importance of linguistic discussions, the desirability of adopting a comparative approach in understanding and exploring issues, and the necessity of revisiting the views of ancient theorists underscore the importance of these studies.

This paper seeks to explore the position and role of Suhrawardi’s system of concepts, namely the primary and secondary rational divisions with regard to the association between the essence and attributes of the Nur al-Anwar, in an attempt to explain his philosophical view in light of the foundations of this thoughts. Suhrawardi's statements on this subject have been stated and interpreted in diverse ways, with some proving the objectivity of essence with the attributes of Nur al-Anwar and others refuting this argument. The fact that logical and philosophical secondary concepts are not distinguished in Suhrawardi's philosophy coupled with the criteria that he proposes about the credence of these concepts cast doubt on the belief regarding the objectivity of the essence and attributes of the Nur al-Anwar.
