Following Aristotle, Muslim philosophers introduced Matter as the origin of the changes and alterations of things; since those changes inhere matter and physical things, they confine the realm of fluid beings to the world of material bodies. They have also mounted various arguments to prove the concomitance between matter and material form and that hyle (prime Matter) is exclusive to the world of nature. In what follows, the author has examined those arguments in order to study how far the domain of fluid beings go. What is inferred from both rational and traditional arguments is that being fluid and flux is a graded quality resulting from the feeble level of existence of things and accordingly the domain of fluid things includes all contingent beings -depending on their feebleness- thus time will extend over the metaphysical realm .

In one classification, issues of theoretical mysticism are divided into two sections: 1- monotheism and 2- monotheist. The latter one deals with the reality of man, his position in the system of what there is, and his relation to Allah Almighty. One important issue of theoretical mysticism which helps properly understand other key issues of mysticism is the presence of human being in different stages of existence. Evidently, the true and precise understanding of such an important issue of mysticism depends on the adequate explanation of its foundations.
Having made use of a descriptive-analytic method in their essay, the authors went to scrutinize the ontological and anthropological foundations of man’s presence in different stages of existence. The outcome we obtained is that personal unity of existence, the all-inclusiveness of the All-comprehensive Name, the union of the Gatherer and the perfect man, that prefect man is the spirit of the world, are all the most significant foundations of such a mystical view that the perfect man is present in the world

In what follows, the author has dealt with the analysis of theoretical and practical faculties in terms of their perfection number and classification of their genuine cases. This analysis matters a great deal in the course of designing al-Razi’s philosophical writings on ethics. The aim of this research is to get into al-Razi’s system of thought in order to redefine the theoretical and practical faculties, typology of man’s perfections, and to redesign the constituents of man’s eudaemonistic life. The method adopted is rational-analytic and making comparison in some statuses. According to al-Razi, both theoretical and practical reasons have a cognitive aspect: the former is to know things as they are, and the latter to know the good in terms of practice.
Through the analysis of perfections of these two faculties, we can design a comprehensive view on those perfections as fundamental and intermediate ones. Al-Razi introduces the fundamental perfections in connection with religious constituents and superior to Aristotelian analyses of moderation theory. In al-Razi’s point of view, the value of living a happy life in its cognitive aspect aims at its object and is higher than the intellectual contemplation, and in practical aspect rests upon moral manner. Furthermore, the author has deal with some formulations of the ties between theoretical and practical faculties analogous to al-Razi’s analysis such as: the deductive formulation by which practical reason makes use of general conclusions of theoretical reason, the classifications of ethical propositions of practical reason into those in need of contemplation and those in no need of, and the formulation as per the tie between practice and its result according to the large indexes of knowing Allah and proximity to Him.

The analysis of how multiple divine names and attributes issued from One Simple Essence and how they are compatible, for the first time, have been precisely explained in transcendent theosophy. However, is the celebrated interpretation of Mulla Sadra’s word his final view that multiple concepts have been abstracted from One Essence and whether those divine names are real?
The examination of foundations of transcendent theosophy helps draw the conclusion that we cannot embrace the abstraction of multiple concepts from Divine Essence once we have already acknowledged that He is truly One and His Essence is thoroughly simple; nor can we consider divine names separately as real entities once we have already acknowledged that the Essence and attributes are identical and that He encompasses all perfections and the doctrine that equates Allah with all what there is. The solution to this contradiction is the theory of “analytic multiplicity of divine names and attributes”, according to which those perfections -construed as attributes- are obtained from the “analysis of existence” and are thus applicable to existence, because existence and existent are inclusive to One Essence Who encompasses all infinite perfections of existence.
Contrary to the abstraction theory in terms of which both the abstracted and the origin of abstraction are genuine, in this approach the abstracted is mentally-constructed but the origin of abstraction is genuine and real. The logic working at the tie between the Essence and attributes is to negate identity (sameness) once negating alterity (otherness).

There, in the Islamic traditions, are different cases speaking about the first creature. Mention can be made of the most significant instances such as the light of holy Prophet of Islam and Ahlu al-Beit (PBUT), the spirit, the intellect, water and pen.
Making use of descriptive-analytic method, the authors have studied the views of intellectuals, particularly the Shiite, in order to resolve the contradiction of those traditions. A look into those traditions shows that the authorities in hadith either went to reconcile those traditions that they are different phrases of the same concept or to separate the material world from the spiritual one that in the former it is “water” and in the latter it is “intellect”. Having referred to the so-called al-Wahid Rule “nothing issues from the One except one”, most philosophers and mystics hold that the first created or issued being is one. The philosophers have named it “intellect”, and the mystics have construed it as “light”, “Muhammadan Reality”, or “expanded existence”. Some scholars have separated “the first created” from “the first issued” and applied those traditions on the creation of the light of holy Muhammad (PBUH) as the first creature .

Known also as the principle of usefulness and the school of utility, utilitarianism is one of the most current normative theories of philosophy of ethics that evaluates the right conduct as per the usefulness of its consequences for the greatest number of people. Since its systematic presentation by its founder Jeremy Bentham, this theory has advanced different accounts, alterations, and criticisms by many proponents and opponents, most of which came from the Western tradition of philosophy and through a social and holistic view. In their efforts here, the authors have come to examine this theory in its individual behavior in the light of the Qur’an and the intellect. In the course of its comprehensive account and explanation, the key criticisms of utilitarianism are assessed in the light of the Qur’anic doctrines. As a result, the objections of this theory as per the Qur’an do not allow us to consider it as a Qur’anic standard in individual ethics or at particular cases.

In their chronology of Western and Islamic philosophy, the term “philosophy” has passed through many different meanings and applications. In its Greek arch which means the lover of knowledge, this term used to carry all human disciplines of knowledge, but in its newfangled meaning it bears “the rational method of research” alone. The latter meaning prepared the ground for falsafah muzaf (philosophy of meta-discipline) in the Islamic thought. Looking into the ongoing issues of the West and viewing the fact that many issues can be studied rationally, some contemporary Muslim intellectuals came to classify the term into: “philosophy of meta-discipline of sciences” and “philosophy of meta-discipline of matters”.   The author is of the view that the term falsafah muzaf not only lacks an equivalent in the West, but also its scope of application is illogical and destructive. There is no logical urge or scientific use for this term to be coined and introduced for rational research. Moreover, there would be no room for pure philosophy. What matters for our traditional thought is philosophy of meta-discipline of sciences the main part of which deals with the philosophical foundations of humanities.

Knowing human being and his relation to Allah is the key mystical issue in Hinduism and Islamic mysticism. “Atman and Brahman” in Vedanta and “Allah and soul” in Sadra’s transcendent theosophy and their graded stages are among the concepts to be studied in the course of explanation of such a relation. In addition to those factors, the constituents of intuitive or higher knowledge and self-knowledge in Allah-man unification play a major role which is explained and interpreted by the commentators of both transcendent theosophy and Vedanta school. In their research here, the authors have tried to explain those common factors and to study the obstacles of acquiring true knowledge and self-knowledge. Knowing those factors is the prerequisite to achieve that noble and lofty aim. From among common obstacles of acquiring such knowledge are: reliance on exoteric and sensory knowledge, bodily actions, wishes, and material belongings. In these two schools, the aim of such subjective and esoteric journey takes its meaning through different stages of the soul from the exoteric stages to the esoteric ones, and to the union with divine stages. Having referred to the Hindu texts particularly Upanishads and Sadra’s works, we have tried to examine the issue by a descriptive-analytic method .
