This study examines unintended effects of revising Iran's accounting standards. These effects need to be surveyed purposefully and in a planned manner. Providing a comprehensive viewpoint of unintended effects leads to guide and cohere researches, develop more efficient accounting standards, and help decision-makers to decide with broader horizons. Based on theoretical foundations, standards objectives and interviewing with experts, unintended effects are divided into unrealized intended effects, subsequent indirect effects and prior effects. Then the areas of each of these effects collectively include financial reporting, capital markets, contracting, investing, and intellectual capital are identified. The researcher-made questionnaire (consisting of 3 sections and 26 questions) whose validity and reliability were confirmed was prepared based on the theoretical foundations and experts’ opinions. The statistical population of the study included faculty members and PhD students in accounting, auditors, financial managers of listed companies and financial experts. The number of members of the community is unclear, so based on the indicators of the  test of the prototype information (82 items) in the PASS software, the sample size is determined 183. The  test in SPSS was used as hypotheses testing method because the data was qualitative and in sequential scale. The difference between the observed and expected frequencies across all areas of unrealized intended, subsequent indirect and prior effects was significant, and the accumulations of frequencies were around agree/significant option. Therefore, the existence of unrealized intended effects rejected; the existence of subsequent indirect effects, the primary effects and importance of research in all measured areas were confirmed.

One of the strategies of audited firms’ management is to divert the auditors' attention from the earnings managed accounts to clean accounts (without misstatement) or accounts that contain misstatement other than earnings managed accounts, in order to impact on auditor’s ability in detecting earnings managed. On the other hand, because all people's judgments stem from their personal values, auditors' performance in discovering earning management can be traced back to their personal values. The purpose of this study is to provide empirical evidence on this issue. For this purpose, the required data is collected and analyzed through a experimental and survey plan with the participation of 93certified public accountants. Findings show that auditors’ earnings management detection is worst when they are diverted to clean accounts and best when auditors are diverted to accounts that contain other errors. Our results suggest that managers can potentially exploit an audit management tactic as simple as a diversion to a clean area to reduce auditors’ effectiveness at detecting earnings management. Among 10 personal values, the stimulation had highest impact and benevolence had the lowest impact on auditor’s ability in earning management detection.

Family companies participate in corporate social responsibility activities to maintain their socio-emotional wealth. However, they are also interested in tax avoidance activities due to economic benefits and high agency conflict between minor and major shareholders. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to investigate the moderating role of family ownership as one of the ownership structures on the relationship between social responsibility and corporate tax avoidance. The research hypotheses are tested by using a sample consisting of 126 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange during the years 2014 to 2018. The results of the study, according to stakeholder theory, show that there is a significant negative relationship between social responsibility and tax avoidance. The results also showed that family ownership, in accordance with the socioemotional wealth theory and alignment of interests between managers and owners has less agency issues in it. Family ownership as moderating variable exacerbates the negative relationship between social responsibility and corporate tax avoidance. Also, the results of the sensitivity analysis test showed that the use of alternative criteria to measure tax avoidance also has no effect on the main results of the research and the results of the research are robust. The present study, while answering the research questions, seeks to understand the role of social commitment in the field of tax savings methods and also to examine the moderating role of family ownership in this field and will show what effect family ownership has on the economic and moral behavior of companies; As a scientific achievement, this issue can provide useful information to users of accounting information.

In conditions of economic uncertainty and due to low earnings, Managers are more motivated to manage earnings. This study aims to investigate the relationship between economic uncertainty and earnings management and evaluates the effect of audit quality on this relationship in the listed companies in Tehran stock exchange. For this purpose, a sample of 133 companies selected by Systematic Removal during the periods of 2008-2018. In order to test the hypotheses, a multiple linear regression model is used. For measuring the audit quality, audit firm size, audit firm tenure and auditor's report type have been chosen. Moreover, to estimate earnings management variable, Dechow (1995), model is used. In order to measure the economic uncertainty, exchange market pressure index is incorporated. Results indicate that in conditions of economic uncertainty, the use of big audit firms and increase of the tenure reduce earnings management. In addition, the modified auditors’ report has strengthened the direct effect of the economic uncertainty on corporate earnings management

Management transactions refer to a part of transactions with related parties being conducted by companies with the main business unit managers or their relatives which has so far received less attention in the research literature. Company managers, especially CEOs, are motivated to use their power in facilitating management transactions to maximize their interests; for this reason, they may minimize financial reporting quality for misleading the company investors. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of CEO power on the relationship between management transactions and financial reporting quality. The research sample included 145 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange, the financial reporting information of which was analyzed during 2012-2018. In order to test the research hypotheses, the multivariate regression model with panel data and fixed effects method are conducted. The findings obtained from testing the research hypotheses indicated that management transactions have a significant negative effect on the financial reporting quality of the companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange. In other words, increasing management transactions reduces financial reporting quality. In addition, the findings show that CEO power increases the negative relationship between management transactions and financial reporting quality. Given the importance of financial reporting quality in the decision-making process of financial reporting users, investors should know that managers reduce the quality of financial reporting to cover the effects of managerial misconduct, and as the power of the CEO increases, such relationships are more likely to intensify.  As a result, such actions can mislead investors or have adverse effects on shareholder wealth.

This study investigates the effect of business strategy on the relation between social responsibility with the amount and stability of dividends. To measure the strategy, the modified Yuan et al. (2018) model is used with five dimensions. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is determined by modified indicators of Yuan et al. (2018), and Bahar-Moghaddam et al. (2013). The variables of the amount and stability of dividends are calculated based on Benlemlih (2018). Samples are selected through regular screening on companies listed on Tehran Stock Exchange from 2013 to 2017 and multivariate regression models with fixed effects is used to test the hypotheses. Findings show that (1) despite the strong positive linear relation between CSR and (the amount and stability of) dividends, no nonlinear relation is found between them, so this approves corporate social responsibility thoughts. (2) The business strategy has a strong negative linear relation with the (amount and stability of) dividends, i.e., firms with aggressive (defensive) business strategy distribute lower (higher) dividends. (3) Interactive effect (strategy and CSR) has a strong negative linear relation with (the amount and stability of) dividends, but there is no significant nonlinear relation between them, therefor, the business strategy has a stronger effect on the amount and stability of firms’ dividends than CSR.
