Ichthyophthirius multifilii (Ich) is likely to cause more damage to freshwater aquarium fish than other eukaryotic pathogens. Due to the reported side effects and environmental effects, scientists are trying to replace chemicals with plant extracts to treat this parasite. In this study, the effect of ethanolic extract of green tea (Camellia sinensis) in the treatment of fish infected with the Ich parasite was investigated. In this study, the effect of different dilutions (0.25, 0.2, 0.15, and 0.125 gr / l) of ethanolic extract of green tea on the average number of white spots on the body of each fish and also the average number of microscopic parasites per fish before, 24 hours later and also 7 days after exposure of infected fish to the extract was studied. After 7 days of treatment, the average number of white spots on the body per fish and the average number of parasites counted in 5 microscopic fields per fish, were not significantly different in 0.2, 0.15, and 0.125 gr/l groups. Among the three treatments, the lowest percentage of mortality during 7 days was related to the concentration of 0.125 gr/l (25 percent). Also, all fish died at 0.25 gr/l and the negative control groups. The results revealed that 75 percent of infected fish survived during treatment with 0.125 gr/L of green tea ethanolic extract, and the efficacy of the mentioned concentration for removal of parasites from fins and skin was near 100 percent. Therefore, it can be concluded that this concentration can be used with caution for the treatment of fish infected with Ichthyophthirius multifiliis

Success in aquaculture depends on the mass production and quality of juveniles. However, many fish species suffered high losses during the early stages of development. Therefore, in order to decrease mortality, produce a large number of healthy larvae is a fundamental issue. On the other hand, one of the micronutrients that can be effective in larvae health is ascorbic acid. During the embryonic and larval periods, this vitamin causes accelerate growth, stress resistance and improving incubation performance. But the ability to synthesize this vitamin does not exist in many fishes and it must enterthe fish body through another ways. Therefore, finding new methods such as enrichment can lead to an increasee in the concentration of this vitamin in gonads and fish eggs and consequently more successful reproduction. Accordingly, the present study investigated how to enrich fish eggs with ascorbic acid and the effects of enrichment on improving the reproduction process and reducing stress in fishes.

The genus Aphanius belong to the family Aphaniidae which is widely distributed in the Mediterranean basin, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and brackish and freshwaters of Iran, Pakistan and India. To date, 14 species have been described under the genus Aphanius, in Iran. Currently, due to human-induced disturbance activities (hydrological alteration, introduction of exotic species, over-fishing, unusual methods of fishing, and land erosion) and natural disturbance (climate change and drought) some species, especially endemic species are under severe threats. Numerous authors have so far studied different aspects of these fishes, including the phenotypic variation, species diversity and phylogenetic relationships and several new endemic species were added to the members of this genus. Because of the importance of studying endemic species in their conservation and management and also introducing several new species of Aphanius during recent years, this study aims to review this genus in Iran.

One of the challenges facing the increasing growth of the aquaculture industry in the last decade is paying attention to the production of economical aquafeeds. Fishmeal as a source of protein required by aquatic species faces problems such as price increment, quality fluctuation and the presence of various chemical and microbial contaminants. Therefore, attention to the use of alternative protein sources of fishmeal, including plant protein sources, is considered. Flaxseed is an essential source of crude protein, crude fat and precursor fatty acids. Oil, especially the meal of flaxseed, has a good nutritional value for use in aquatic diets. The presence of some anti-nutritional compounds such as linamarin from the group of cyanogen glycosides in flaxseed has made difficult on the use of this valuable nutrient in the diet of aquatic animals. The use of appropriate processing methods such as expansion and extrusion reduce these compounds.

The country's ornamental fish farming industry has been growing progressively and live spawning guppy is one of the top-selling ornamental fish in Iran and the world. Spirulina algae is rich in nutrients such as protein, amino acids, essential fatty acids and natural pigments and has many uses as a supplement for livestock, poultry and aquatic animals, especially ornamental fish. This research was conducted with the aim of comparing the effect of diets spirulina algae-supplemented and concentrate diets without spirulina algae on the reproductive and survival indices of guppy broodstock for 90 days. The rearing environment included glass aquaria under controlled conditions with an exposure time of 12 hours light and 12 hours of dark and a water temperature of 28 ± 1 °C. The four test groups included Treatment 1 (concentrate feed), Treatment 2 (concentrate feed with 5% spirulina algae), Treatment 3 (concentrate feed with 10% spirulina algae) and Treatment 4 (concentrate feed with 15% spirulina algae). Each treatment consisted of three replicates and five female and three male breeding specimens of Big Air Dumbo guppies imported from Thailand were kept in each replicate. The results showed the highest rate of relative fecundity (39.3±1.62) and productive larvae (150.0±2.65) and the lowest survival rate in the diet containing 15% spirulina algae supplement. During the breeding season, a significant difference in the survival rate of fish was observed with different treatments (p<0.05), such that the highest and lowest survival rates in female breeders were 93.33 ± 6.67 and 33.67 ± 6.67, respectively male breeders were observed 33.33 ± 0.0% and 88.88 ± 11.11 in treatments one and four, respectively. As a result, spirulina algae can be used as a suitable supplementary food in an environmentally friendly way in the diet in order to achieve optimal reproduction and survival in guppy ornamental fish.

Similar to mammals, neurohormones regulate reproductive process in fish. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is one of the most important factors controlling reproduction, which causes gametogenesis by regulating the amount and time of LH and FSH secretion. The highest amount of GnRH isoforms in vertebrates is related to teleost. According to the phylogeny tree, GnRH is classified into three forms (GnRH1, GnRH2, GnRH3) and all fishes have at least two forms. In fish that lack GnRH1, GnRH3 plays an alternative role. Unlike mammals, it seems that GnRH is not the main gate of reproduction, at least in ornamental fish (zebrafish and medaka). However, farming fishes in closed environments such as farms leads to a decrease in the level of GnRH and LH, which causes reproductive impairment. Therefore, the synthesis of GnRH analogs that have prolonged stability is important for the aquaculture industry. Over the last decade molecular techniques have been well developed and the role of other neuropeptides on the production of LH hormone have confirmed which raised new challenges of the relationship between novel peptides and GnRH. The present study is centered on the most important applied and fundamental findings on GnRH.
