    Introduction

Diabetes is a health challenge worldwide. Self-care activities are one of the effective ways to control this disease and its complications. In this study, the effect of the peer method and self-learning module on patients' self-care was investigated.

    Methods

In this semi-experimental study, 60 patients with type 2 diabetes who were referred to a diabetes clinic in Zabol, Iran, were included. Patients were randomly divided into two groups by tossing a coin. Patients in the peer group participated in 6 sessions of 30-45 min long. This intervention was implemented for the peer group in one month (2 sessions per week). Self-learning packages were also provided to the patients in the module group. In the module group, at the same time as the peer group training sessions, the corresponding module (the module related to the same topic as the peer group training session) was provided to the patients to study it. To ensure the validity of the study, the researcher made telephone calls to the patients. In addition, the researcher conducted telephone follow-ups to remind the treatment plan to both peer education and self-learning module groups. The self-care score of the patients was checked before and 12 weeks after the intervention.

    Results

The self-care score of patients in the peer group (P<0.001) and self-learning module group (P<0.001) increased significantly. The patients in the peer group had a significantly higher self-care score than the patients in the self-learning module group (P=0.019).

    Conclusion

The present study showed that the two self-learning methods, peer and module, effectively improved patients' self-care. This effect was higher in the peer group since, in the peer-oriented education method, patients learn from the experiences of their peers with the same conditions and diseases. Consequently, this can lead to an improvement in the adaptation of patients to their disease conditions, ultimately leading to disease control and the reduction of its complications.

    Introduction

The satisfaction of diabetic patients with the treatment and their cooperation in obtaining therapeutic results and increasing quality of life is very decisive. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between type II diabetes patients' satisfaction with medical services and their quality of life.

    Methods

This cross-sectional study was conducted on 198 type II diabetic patients referred to Hamadan Diabetes Clinic in 2021. The convenience sampling method was used to select the samples. The data were collected using a checklist of demographic characteristics and the quality of care, patient behavior, and quality of life researcher-made questionnaire. The obtained data were then analyzed in SPSS software at a significant level of 0.05.

    Results

According to the results, the majority of the participants were female (70.71%), and the mean age of the respondents was obtained at 59.65 ± 9.26 years. In addition, the mean score of quality of life was estimated at 84.7±12.6. The quality of life score showed a significant relationship with education level, marital status, employment status, and body mass index. The mean score of satisfaction with services was 92.78±19.8. The high level of education and lack of health insurance revealed a correlation with lower satisfaction with services. Finally, there was a direct and significant relationship between quality of life and satisfaction with the received services.

    Conclusion

A significant relationship was found between the quality of life and the level of satisfaction with the services received. Therefore, improving the quality of medical services for these patients in order to increase their satisfaction level with treatment can be effective in enhancing their quality of life.

    Introduction

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases with a high prevalence of complications, including psychological problems, as well as personal, family, and social communication issues. This research aimed to predict psychological symptoms in type II diabetes patients based on self-efficacy, quality of life, and self-compassion.

    Methods

This descriptive study was conducted based on a descriptive-correlation method. The statistical population of the study included all women and men suffering from type II diabetes referring to the specialized diabetes center of Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah in 2022. The samples (n=150) were selected by the available sampling method. The required data were collected using questionnaires, namely the General Self-Efficacy Scale, Quality of Life Questionnaire, Self-Compassion Scale, and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the simultaneous entry method.

    Results

The results showed that there was a negative and significant correlation between self-compassion score and psychological health in type II diabetes patients (r=-0.47, P<0.05). A significant relationship was observed between the feeling of self-efficacy (r=-0.67, P<0.05) and quality of life (r=-0.61, P<0.05) and psychological health in type II diabetes patients. The regression analysis also showed that 34% of the variance of the psychological symptoms score of diabetic patients could be explained based on predictor variables.

    Conclusion

The results of our study revealed that there was a negative and significant relationship between the self-compassion score and psychological symptoms in patients with type II diabetes, in such a way that with an increase in the average self-compassion score, the depression, anxiety, and stress scores decrease and vice versa

    Introduction

Diabetes is highly prevalent worldwide, and self-management is the central factor for controlling and delaying the complications of diabetes in diabetic patients. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between spiritual well-being and religious coping styles with self-management in diabetic patients.

    Materials and Methods

This is a correlational study conducted through Structural Equation Modeling. The study population included all type II diabetic patients in Yazd, Iran, from whom 207 individuals were selected by convenience sampling to participate in the study. Data were collected using Gomez and Fisher Spiritual Well-Being Questionnaire, Pargament Religious Coping Questionnaire, and Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire. They were then analyzed by SPSS (version 23) and AMOS (version 24) software.

    Results

The results showed that spiritual well-being was statistically and significantly related to a positive religious coping style. In addition, the association between positive religious coping style and diabetes self-management was statistically positive and significant. On the other hand, a negative religious coping style had a significant yet negative relationship with diabetes self-management and the spiritual well-being of diabetic patients. Moreover, the relationship between spiritual well-being and self-management of diabetes was statistically positive and significant. The findings also revealed that religious coping styles mediate the relationship between spiritual well-being and diabetes self-management (P<0.01).

    Conclusion

The results indicate that diabetic patients with higher spiritual well-being and a more positive religious coping style show higher diabetes self-management. Therefore, it is expected that by increasing the spiritual well-being of diabetic patients and strengthening their positive religious coping style, their self-management increases significantly. Due to the importance of self-management in controlling diabetes and postponing its complications, it is suggested that healthcare centers pay special attention to improving spiritual well-being and correcting the religious coping style of patients.
