Comparison of Personality Disorders in Adjusted and Non-adjusted Couples based on SWAP-200

Abstract:
In the present study, the role of personality disorders on marital adjustment was assessed. At first, 50 couples completed DAS, then in order to personality analysis on the basis of SWAP-200, they participated at 2.5 to 3 hour semi-structured interview sessions. The objective was to survey the role of personality disorders, especially cluster B personality disorders, on marital disadjustment. The role of variables including age, gender, education, number of children, and years of marriage were assesse4d as covariates and findings revealed that non-adjusted couples experienced more personality disorders than adjusted ones and as we expected, the cluster B disorders were more prevalent than clusters A and C.It can be said that people who suffer from antisocial, narcissistic, borderline, and hysterionc personality disorders, would experience more conflict in their relations.
