Scientific Explanation from the Holy Quran of the Prohibition of Sexual Intercourse during Menstruation

The Quran is a guide book from the God of world we live in for us by Prophet Mohammad (S) to send out the message of Islam. Within each of the diverse verses of the Quran, it has been established that the reality of the divine message is beyond comprehension of humans. Although with the use of scientific tools we can improve our level of understanding, undoubtedly it is not enough to clarify and understand the actual fact and und familiarize ourselves with the secret. One of the strict laws in the Holy Quran is in regards to sexual intercourse during menstruation. So strict that it is specifically mentioned in verse 222 in Sura Baqara to stay away from a woman when she is menstruating. ﴿وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى فَاعْتَزِلُواْ النِّسَاءَ فِي الْمَحِيضِ وَلاَ تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىَ يَطْهُرْنَ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللّهُ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ﴾In addition to the physiological symptoms of menstruation, respecting the Quran and withholding from having sexual intercourse is very important. With scientific information and research done on this topic it is understood that not only does sexual intercourse during menstruation bothers women (and even men), the possibility of infection and disease in the male and female reproductive organs and also psychological problems in women can arise because of the hormonal changes in the body. Therefore, the final command of the Holy Quran, withholding from sexual intercourse during menstruation is something special and very wise and it agrees with the latest scientific findings. However, what we understand from the Holy Quran is only a small part of the whole truth that our wise creator has considered for his creation.
