A Study of the Organizational Capacity of Imam Ali University Based on McKinney's Model

Capacity refers to the ability of individuals, organizations, communities, and states in meeting certain objectives. Individually, it focuses on the personal characteristics of a person, while organizationally it covers structures, systems, strategies, etc. At the state and community levels, capacity concentrates on macro parameters such as literacy, corruption, tax, trade balance, etc. This study primarily deals with the notion of capacity at the organizational level to investigate its status at Imam Ali University based on McKinney’s model, accommodating eight areas in 53 indices represented in a questionnaire. The validity of the respective instrument was checked in panel of three experts in the field and the reliability was estimated statistically as %90. As a descriptive and field study in design, this research entailed in the support of the research hypothesis indicating appropriateness of the University’s organizational capacity in five areas including the operational, managerial, technological, educational, human sources, directorial board, while inappropriate in three areas such as strategic planning, program development, and financial capacity. Friedman Test revealed an order of priority rank for three variables including directorial board, operational planning, and managerial capacity, respectively. The paper concludes with certain practical suggestions based on the results as to the respective hypotheses.
