Comparison of the Demographic Characteristics of Couples requested Divorce and Normal Couples in Sirjan during 2011

One of the serious difficultles in couples is divorce which is recently increasing in Iran. Divorce negatively affects couples both physical and psychological. Considering investing vtions have been done in the field of different factors related to divorce in present study the main aim of this study was to compare demographic characteristics between couples requested to divorce and Normal ones in Sirjan a city in kerman. Material and Method s: This is a comparative descriptive study which and was conducted in Sirjan in 2010. To choose couples requested for divorce' 35 couples (70 person) who had applied for separation in court and for choosing normal couples from health centers in sirjan 35 couples were randomly chosen. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistic at tools (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistic (t-test, χ 2)tools.

The average age was 30.57+7.97. The couples requested for divorce and normal ones were similar regarding the average of age, number of children, working time and the duration of marriage. Comparing of the Demographic Characteristics showed that family marriage, having children, good income, high education, consulting before marriage, having their own house and having job were the main reasons to decrease divorce.

According to the results of our study, it seems that for having a stable marriage it is necessary to consult with before marriage, having job and good income and it is imperative for the government and the other organizations which deal with family consulting in order to prevent the family's dys function should pay attention to the factors that influence the conflicts and divorce in family.
