The Study of Common Allegories in Rumi and Attar's Mathnavis Print

Abstract:
Allegory is one of the grandfigures of speech which has of long been applied for the expression of religious, moral and mystical teaching by great poets and writers in human societies. Our great master of mystical literature, such as Sannai, Attar and Rumi, have invariably used This technique in expressing and inculating their myststical thoughts and transcendental beliefs. Through allegory, they have communicated to their readers very subtle truths and inexpressible ideas in a simple language.
Besides defining and discussing allegory from the religious, literary, rhetorical and expressive respect, the present article under takes to study the differences and similarities between allegries shared between Rumi‘s poems and these of Attar. Throw the study, we come to the point that through his familiarity with and respect for the allegorical poems of Attar, Rumi has taken many allegories from him and has presented them in a simpler language much closer to the language of ordinary people.
