Evaluation of the muscular efficiency indexes & lactate accumulation during a submaximal ergometer protocol by two pedaling style in men road cyclists

Abstract:
Purpose
To delay the fatigue phenomenon is of success in cycling. In present study we investigate muscular efficiency indexes & lactate accumulation during submaximal ergometer protocol by two pedaling style in road cyclist.
Material and
Methods
10 professional road male cyclists (age 27.7±2.4 year's whit 6.5±3 years’ experience) performed the submaximal ergometer protocol with two different pedaling styles (load pedaling (LP) & pressure-tensile (PT) styles) in two different weeks. Muscular efficiency index (MEI), aerobic index (AI), lactate concentration (LC) and fatigue level were evaluated in the two pedaling styles.
Results
MEI, AI, FL and LC variables didn’t significantly alter during the LP & PT conditions. Fatigue index of blood lactate concentration(2.04±0.77 v 2.10±0.49) and RPE (12.67±1.00 v 11.67±1.58) in cyclists at the end of the two methods was not statistically different (p>0.05).
Conclusion
in this study, it seems that, the role of LP or PT styles in the muscular efficiency improvement is not remarkable, meanwhile biomechanical profile in active muscles, probably be effective in the pedaling pattern.
