Islamic Awakening from Sunni Jurisprudence Point of View

Islamic awakening, which has been started in Arab countries from a couple of years ago, is likely to be an endless subject. This phenomenon can be studied from different points of view. This paper works on the so-called movement from jurisprudence attitude –which has drawn less attentions comparing to other views- and seeks the legitimacy of these movements. Due to the appearance of Islamic awakening mainly in Sunni states, our effort was to review Riwa’yat (traditions) and the jurisprudence. To come up with the question i.e the legitimacy of movements, desk research method has been used and Sunni views on the relationship between state and rebels has been studied. In this respect Sunni jurisprudence, tradition and sentences have been reviewed. Based on the results opposing the governor –weither being an oppressor one or not- is prohibited.
