Nurses Self- Assessment in Pediatric Physical Examination skills

Abstract:
Introduction
Can be said , The most essential and most important principle is at work to be done nursing skills, especially in the health status Which fast action and accurate decisions and the problems will be. So the empowerment of nurses in these skills seem necessary. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the skill of nurses in pediatric physical examination was by self assessment method.
Method
This cross-sectional descriptive study in four hospitals of the province (1394) on 107 nurses purposive sampling was conducted based on the characteristics of the study sample.Data were collected included demographic characteristics questionnaire (12 questions) and self-assessment questionnaire and pediatric physical examination skills of nurses (30 items). The validity of the content's aspect ratio (CVR= 0.78) and content validity index (CVI =0.83 ) and Cronbach's alpha coefficient 0.9 determined. All analyses were performed by SPSS v.22 software and Student t tests.
Findings: According to the findings of the and pediatric physical examination, two of the 30 basic skills (assessment of respiratory effort and maximum temperature) frequently or regularly every shift by more than half of the participants were implemented. More than 20% of nurses did not know the seven skills as part of their job but do Dastnd how these techniques and more than 40 percent of the participants did not know how the two skills (auscultation of the lungs and heart) to do so. Between the ages of nurses with an abundance the skills of pediatric health assessments (p =0.780), also employment status significant relationship with an abundance use of these skills (p =0.762) did not exist.
Conclusions
Research now showing some skills as part of the routine work of nursing have not been considered many of these skills are rarely performed. Failure to perform many of the skills training shows a paradox. From one side a lot concern for education, there are a large number of skills. The nurses a relatively small set of skills to run. Therefore, evaluating the real need for practical nurses perform the skills required to appear.
