The relationship between communication skills and personal characteristics among librarians of Mazandaran public libraries

Abstract:
Purpose
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between communication skills and personal traits among librarians of Mazandaran public libraries.
Methodology
The population census is used for the study, which included all librarians of Mazandaran public libraries. The survey method was used and the 18-item questionnaire of Barton communication skills was used to collect required data. In analyzing the data, according to the research hypotheses, Pearson correlation coefficient and chi-square test was used.
Findings: The findings show that there is no significant between the communication skills with age, gender, and work experience of librarians. Also, significant relationship exists between the Communication skill and level and degree of education for librarians.
Conclusion
The field of education has a very important role in the development of communication skills and graduates of information science and knowledge in universities accounting courses such as principles of reference, and General Psychology internship spend that teaches them how to act in communications.
