Author(s):
Abstract:
The notion of Comparative philosophy is studied in this article. In order to organize the comparative studies in philosophy, we have to have a clear picture of what comparative philosophy is. To obtain this clear picture, the valid components in the definition of the comparative philosophy from the point view of the experts of this field must be determined. The most important concept in comparative philosophy is comparison. Comparison is a central concept in comparative philosophy, but is not the goal of this field of philosophy, rather is an instrument for the researcher to get to his goal of comparative study. Moreover, comparison in the comparative philosophy is between the different philosophical traditions and it is a fundamental comparison. So we can define comparative philosophy as follows: comparative philosophy is a fundamental and external comparison between the philosophical traditions or ideas using the standard methods in philosophy in order to reach the goals of comparative study.
