Identification and analysis of research priorities in knowledge and information science from the viewpoint of faculty and doctoral students in the field

The Purpose of this study is identification and categories important research topics in knowledge and information science and measurement of their importance to determine research priorities in the field.
This study is of an applied-theoretical type that done by documentary analytic and survey method. The study population consisted of faculty and doctoral students of Knowledge and information science in University of Tehran, kharazmi University, Al-Zahra University, Mashhad Ferdowsi University, Shiraz university, University of Esfahan and Shahid Chamran University studying in academic year 2015-2016. In this study to analyze the data, descriptive Statistics (Mean and Standard deviation) and inferential statistics (pearson correlation coefficient) is used.
After extensive review, 120 research topic is identified and is classified in 22 main aspects. Among the research topics identified, research priorities from the perspective of the studied population include "information and communication technology", "Education in knowledge and information science", "user studies", "Research in knowledge and information science", "information needs and behaviors" and "virtual libraries" are.
Results indicate that new and applied topics and topics related to information and communication technologies than traditional subjects and theoretical subjects for future research in this field are greater priority.
