Investigating the Role of I.R.I Armed Forces in the Realiza- tion of the Islamic Government (Based on the Intellectual System of the Supreme Leader)

In the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the armed forces, including the army, IRGC, the police and the mobilization (Basij), are responsi- ble for preserving the independence and territorial integrity of the country through civilian and military operations on the borders and within and outside the borders. Accordingly, these defensive institutions of the country, with their huge human capital and equipment, can play a role in formulating and safeguarding the limits of the country based on the Islam- ic Republic of Iran. The reason for this claim can be well seen in the statements of the Su- preme Leader regarding the explanation of the characteristics of the Islamic country in the years following the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Indeed, one of the important issues of every nation and country is the issue of national power and authority; and also, promoting the military to provide national authority has always been a special concern for officials and commanders. Based on this, the paper intends to study the role of the armed forces in the realization of the Islamic government by considering the demands of the Supreme Leader and the Commander-in-Chief, while studying the dimensions and characteristics of the Is- lamic government, the effects of the armed forces on the power and national authority and its related indicators in order to increase the impact of the country’s defense structure on the realization of Islamic government in the country.
In order to achieve the research objectives, in the first step, the research literature was examined and, based on the statements of the Supreme Leader and the studies of a number of intellectuals a “conceptual model” was designed and then correct- ed by the experts and intellectuals. In the next step, a tool for data collection (question- naire) was designed and after confirming its validity and reliability (Cronbach’s test) it was distributed among 450 individuals of the research population. The data were collected and analyzed using Chi-square test and data analysis software.
Findings and Regarding the confirmation of the assumptions, it became clear that the armed forces had an impact on both ideological and operational aspects in the realization of the Islamic government. Among the components assessed, the factors of “es- tablishing security and tranquility”, “stopping west-believing and westernization” and “in- dependence and stability “have had the greatest impact; on the other hand, “work “,”move- ment and action” and “fighting against corruption” have had the least impact. Finally, some suggestions have been made regarding the results obtained in order to further influence the armed forces on the realization of Islamic government in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
