Relationship between Agency, Planning, School Culture and Psychological Well-Being and Academic Achievement in Normal and Gifted Students: A Multi Level Analysis

This study aimed to determine the role of personal factors (agency& planning) and school culture in the prediction of psychological wellbeing and academic achievement variance in normal and gifted students. The research was conducted with a correlational method and its population was the all students of high schools in Ramsar and tonekabon cities equal 7500. 707 students were selected by random cluster sampling. They were assessed through agency by Jaaskela, psychological well-being by Ryff, school culture by Alessandro & Sadh and planfulness were used, and the students first midterm average was applied as criteria for academic achievement. Data were analyzed through multi-level modeling by pass and mplus. The results of analysis showed that Individual and social factors could predict psychological well-being of students. Also, there was a significant positive correlation between psychological well-being and academic achievement. The above results confirm this fact that Students with agency have higher psychological well-being than the others. Also, these students are more successful in their academic affairs due to their psychological health. The difference between normal and gifted school in school culture and psychological wellbeing reflects the progressive improvement of the gifted schools in terms of the kind of relationships in these schools studnts and their mental health.
