Effectiveness of Neurofeedback on Cognitive Flexibility

Abstract:
Aim of the present research was to examine the effectiveness of Neurofeedback on cognitive flexibility. This semi experimental study was the type of pretest-posttest with control group. Therefore, 30 master students chose by the way of available sampling and asigned in two groups randomly (experimental group and control group, each with 15 members). They were assessed by Stroop test before and after the implementation of the research. Number of Neurofeedback learning sessions was 20 half an hour sessions. The experimental group was learned in 20 continuous workdays. There was no learning in control group. Data examined using covariance analysis. Results demonstrated that after 20 Neurofeedback learning sessions, there was significant improvement in cognitive flexibility. The two groups had remarkable difference from the viewpoint of cognitive flexibility. Neurofeedback is an operant conditioning of brain waves and from that way people know to control their brain waves voluntarily and therefore improve their functions including cognitive flexibility.
