Study of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Pain Prevalence in Computer Operators in Bojnoord

Regarding the development of life style and high usage of computers, pain and musculoskeletal disorders have also increased in computer users. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the pain and musculoskeletal disorder prevalence in computer operators of the army personnel.
Methods and Materials: In this descriptive-analytic study, 64 army staff of brigade 130 of mobile assult at Shahid Deljoyan in Bojnourd were selected through random sampling technique. Nordic questionnaire was used to assess the pain and musculoskeletal discomfort. Moreover, the body map was used to identify the site of the pain. Data were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA.
Findings indicated that, the highest mean of pain and discomfort was observed 78% in the shoulders and 77% in the neck. Then, body pain and discomfort were reported in 64% of participants and 44% of individuals reported pain in elbows, hands and the wrist. The amount of complaint from disorders of spine and lower limbs were 31% and 15% respectively.
Discussion and Musculoskeletal discomfort is clearly seen in computer users. Discomfort and pain were observed in the upper part of the trunk especially in the shoulders and neck. This pain is not caused by a particular illness or discomfort in most cases. Furthermore, more studies have been recommended to determine the status and non- ergonomic points of work in these people.
