Author(s):
Abstract:
Bent al-Hoda (Ameneh Sadr) was the only daughter of Ayatullah Seyyed Heydar Sadr and the renowned lady, Batul Aleh Yassin. Her genealogy traces back to Imam Musa bin Ja'far through 31 descendants. She exemplifies a scholarly (intellectual), pious and influential woman who emerged in the contemporary Iraqi society. She was educated in a scholarly and virtuous family and learned religious studies such as Arabic literature, commentary, jurisprudence, Islamic history, etc. ... from her brothers Ismail and Mohammad Baqir. She mastered the academic training through distance learning and continually improved her knowledge by studying various books. Simple living, Hijab and chastity, great worship, studying and writing, had shaped the individual and social ethics of her lifestyle.
She had understood the political nature of Islam and had taken political stances. In the struggles of her brother Mohammad Baqir Sadr with the Ba'ath regime, she actively supported him as a counselor, guardian and a sympathizer in his detention time. Eventually he was martyred by Saddam Hussein Ba'athi alongside his brother. This article, with the aim of answering these questions such as: Who was Bent al-Hoda? And how did she perform her political role in fighting against the Ba'ath regime in Iraq? ,was written using the documentary-field method, reference books containing the biography and activities of this martyr and also interviewing her students and companions.
