Investigating Students' Attitude to Migration Phenomenon

Immigration phenomenon is one of the important social issues, in which sociologists and social problems scholars are trying to find influential variables. As one of the fundamental subjects of humanistic and social sciences, immigration is a phenomenon seen in both developed and developing countries and the sole difference is in the reasons of generating this phenomenon. The purpose of this study includes sociologic clarifying the attitude of students of public universities (Sharif University of Technology and Iran University of Science and Technology) towards immigrations phenomenon. The present study is practical in terms of purpose and of correlation descriptive study type in terms of data collection method. Statistical population of study includes all students of Sharif University of Technology and Iran University of Science and Technology, out of whom 379 students were selected as sample size using Cochran Formula. Simple random sampling was used in this study for to select sample. Two descriptive (central tendency and dispersion measures) and inferential (correlation and regression) parts were applied using SPSS and AMOS software. The findings results indicate that there is a positive and meaningful relation between job opportunities (r=0.75), financial security (r=0.70), security and free social environment (r=0.74), hope for the future (r=0.65), figure of merit (r=0.65), having relatives abroad (r=0.60), and attitude of students towards immigration phenomenon.
