The role of social media in the evolution of the Iranian political culture

The information revolution and the increasing communication technologies such as the Satellite Internet Networks had outstanding influences on the social, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern societies. The users have been gathered around a common axis and have formed online communities as social networks. Regarding this fact, this research aimed to explain the role of new generation of media (overseeing at above mentioned communicational tools) in the evolution of political culture (as a means of political union) among Iranian users of media on the one hand and the political order of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the other hand. This present study, according to its aim, is considered as basic research, and non-experimental methods (descriptive-analytical method) have been used in order to collect the data. Also, due to deep exploration upon the theories and through the investigation on the existing causes, this research reveals that the media play an important role in the outbreak of political distrust among their users. On the other hand, it is regarded as one of the components causing the political violence in the Muslim community, and also causes the identity alienation and multiple functional actions in the political atmosphere in the above described community.
