The effectiveness of schema therapy and acceptance and commitment based therapy on tolerance of emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and psychological capital in patients with multiple sclerosis
The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of schema therapy and acceptance and commitment based therapy on tolerance of emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and psychological capital in patients with multiple sclerosis. The research method is quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design with two experimental groups and one control group. The statistical population included the entire population of patients with multiple sclerosis in Markazi province in 2021, which according to the coordination made with the Arak MS Association, the total number of them is 1200 people.In this study, available statistical samples were selected for 45 people and then randomly assigned to 3 groups of 15 people including the scheme of therapy (15 people), acceptance and commitment therapy (15 people) and the group. Controls (n = 15) were randomly replaced. The research instruments included Emotional Distress Tolerance Questionnaire (DTS), Sexual Function Dysfunction Questionnaire (2000) and Psychological Capital Questionnaire (1999). Efert and Forsyth were set up. Finally, multivariate and univariate analysis of covariance was used using SPSS software version 22 to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the effect of schema therapy and acceptance and commitment-based therapy on tolerance of emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and psychological capital in patients with multiple sclerosis. Therefore, it can be said that there is a significant difference between the three groups in the post-test scores after adjusting the pre-test scores and Also, the results showed that the schema of therapy and treatment based on acceptance and commitment to tolerance of emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and psychological capital among patients with multiple sclerosis has a good stability.
