The relationship between perception of social interaction and identity stylesWith Internet addiction in students

This research was conducted to investigate the relationship between the perception of social interaction and identity styles with trust in the Internet in students.

Descriptive research of correlational type and the statistical population includes medical students of Iran University of Medical Sciences in the academic year 2014-2015, 160 people (82 boys and 78 girls) were selected as the sample group using available sampling method. In this research, Internet addiction questionnaires of Young (1998), perception of social interaction by Glass (1994) and Brozensky's identity styles (1992) were used.

Research data analysis using spss software and inferential statistics methods, including Pearson's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis showed that the variable of perception of social interaction has a significant negative relationship with internet addiction. Among the identity styles, there is a significant positive relationship between the confused/avoidant identity style and Internet addiction. No relationship was observed between informational and normative identity style variables with Internet addiction.
