Abstract:
The problem with the single source news is that there is no source that reinforce them. Regarding the authority of single source news without any reinforcement, there are three theories: 1-news with single source are reliable totally; 2- single source news with reinforcement are reliable; 3- single source news are always suspicious and we must not rely on them totally. Some Wahhabis maintain that the validity of a single news in belief issues is based on consensus and is certain. Various proofs have been presented by them for the authenticity of single news. Al-Albani, a famous Wahhabi scholar, has quoted in his two books: "Hadith is a proof by itself in belief and Islamic rules", and "Miscellaneous tapes". It seems that the Shia scholars do not accept the authority of the single news in matters of faith, due to its uncertainty; However, Ibn Taymiyyah widens the scope of knowledge of a single news by proposing the topic of the Ummah's acceptance, and considers many of single news to be knowledge-based.
