Industrial clusters, Learning, Innovation and Regional Development

Message:
Abstract:
Since the last decade, Planners, geographers, regional economists have devoted a considerable part of their time and energy to search for a new model of regional development. The concepts of this new model, which is identified as “industrial clustering”, look for the understanding of the role of industrial clusters and their effects on the learning, innovation and competitive advantages. With these in mind, this article attempts to answer the two fundamental questions: First question is that what the theoretical and analytical approaches are applied to evaluate the learning processes, innovation capacities and regional development in a specific spatial region. The second question is that what the elements of industrial clusters motivate the learning and innovation processes and eventually regional development. This framework provides a research agenda for regional policy-makers to understand the nature of industrial clustering and the motivations of the regional development.
