Background
Considering controversial results about the role of emotional intelligence and tendency toward critical thinking in academic success, the present study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and tendency toward critical thinking with academic success in nursing students.
MethodsThe present study was an analytic sectional descriptive study using convenient sampling method that was conducted on 120 nursing students of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in year 2018-2019. Data was collected with questionnaire; the questionnaire consisted of three parts: demographic characteristics, the Schutte scale, and tendency toward critical thinking questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and independent t test.
ResultsResults showed that the mean score of emotional intelligence among nursing students was 109.15) 9.23) and the mean score of critical thinking was 116.96 (12.79). No significant relationship was found between emotional intelligence and its elements with academic success. Also, there was no significant relationship between critical thinking and its elements with academic success (p > 0.05).
ConclusionsLack of a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and critical thinking with academic success might be due to the nature of academic achievement tests as well as the specific focus on remembering and memorizing the educational content as a criterion for evaluation. Therefore, it is recommended that, along with focusing on the ability of personal memory learning, development of cognitive and emotional skills of the students would also be attended.

Background
Empathy is an important component of the nurse‑client relationship and nursing care. The current study aimed to compare nurses’ level of empathy with patients in critical care units, psychiatric, and emergency wards.
Materials and MethodsThe present cross‑sectional study was conducted on 112 nurses selected by convenience sampling in three educational hospitals affiliated with Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran from June to September 2017. Data collection tool was a two‑part questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic data (such as age, gender, and work experience) and Jefferson Scale of Empathy (JSE) containing 20 items, scored according to Likert scale from totally agree (7 points) to totally disagree (1 point). In total, the maximum score was 140 and the minimum score was 20. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16 as well as descriptive and analytical statistical tests (multiple regression).
ResultsThe mean (SD) empathy score of nurses working in critical care units, emergency, and psychiatric wards was 87.51 (6.65), 87.59 (4.90), and 90.71 (7.12), respectively. Regarding the regression models, it was observed that only the work experience was a significant predictor for empathy (β = 0.19, p </em>= 0.04). This model predicted 3.50% of variances in the nurses’ empathy.
ConclusionsNurses’ level of empathy in this study was above average with equal scores in different wards. Therefore, increasing the nurses’ level of empathy is essential in interventional studies.

From a nursing perspective, the human being is a multidimensional entity whose spiritual dimension is central to all aspects and has a significant impact on health. Spirituality and spiritual care are an integral part of holistic care in nursing. Therefore, these factors can play an important role in patient recovery and achieving health objectives when taken into consideration.
The present study was performed to review the available literature regarding the status and role of spiritual care in nursing published during 2000-2018. We aimed to determine the importance of spiritual care education in enhancing the competencies of the nursing profession and provide the condition for further studies.
Studies have shown that the concept of spirituality and spiritual care in the health system have remained subjective, ambiguous, and complex. The findings of numerous studies have demonstrated that education has a great influence on the progress and development of spiritual care in nursing. Consequently, more attention should be paid to spiritual care education as a necessity for increasing the efficiency of nurses in a health team.
According to the results of various studies, it is suggested that the managers, health planners, and nursing educators provide a platform for promoting the professional performance of nurses by formulating the policies of spiritual care education, Spiritual care is an inseparable part of the professional life of nurses. As a result, paying attention to this aspect of care in this profession seems to be essential. Keywords: Nursing education, Spiritual care, Spirituality, nursing -
Background And AimsMultiple sclerosis (MS) patients compared to healthy subjects have much higher levels of psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress that greatly affect their quality of life and significant role in stimulating the onset of MS, worsening symptoms and increasing fatigue. Relaxation in complementary medicine is the most common treatments with low cost. This study aimed to determine the effects of relaxation on depression, anxiety, stress and in women suffering of MS.MethodsThis study is a randomized clinical trial that was carried out on 50 patients with MS referred to MS Clinic of Kashani Hospital in Isfahan, Iran. After simple non-random sampling, participants were randomly assigned by minimization method to three groups: Reflexology, relaxation, and control groups. In the experimental group was performed relaxation intervention within 4 weeks, twice a week for 40 min and the control group were received care and routine medical treatment as directed by a doctor? Data were collected through DASS-21 questionnaire before, immediately and 2 months after interventions in two groups. Data analysis was performed by SPSS using descriptive and inferential statistics.ResultsMean scores of stress, anxiety, and depression before the intervention showed no significant difference in the two groups (P>0.5), but immediately after the intervention, independent t-test showed significant difference between mean scores of stress (P=0.001), anxiety (P=0.02) and depression (P=0.02) between groups while two months after the intervention there was only a significant difference between the mean score of stress in the two groups (P=0.003). Also, findings obtained from repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the severity stress, anxiety and depression during the different times in experimental group had significant difference (P0.05).ConclusionIt seems that relaxation technique as intervention in reducing stress, anxiety and depression is effective in women with MS. However, the technique has long-term effects on stress. So, this method as effective technique can be recommended. Keywords: Multiple Sclerosis, Relaxation, Stress, Anxiety, Depress -
